Kodiak Area Transit System (KATS) is the public transportation provider for Kodiak. KATS provides safe, convenient public transportation services within the City of Kodiak. Senior Citizens of Kodiak Inc. administers KATS and contracts with First Student Inc. who operates the system.

How to Ride

Plan your trip:

  • Do you need door through door service or a ride at a specific time or place?
    Then use the dial-a-ride service by calling the day before.
  • Are you flexible?
    Then you can catch the bus at one scheduled stop and get off the bus at another scheduled stop.

KATS service includes scheduled stops Monday through Friday. See the time schedule and route map.



KATS provides Dial-A-Ride service between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, then between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Call 486-8308 the day before your ride by 5:30 p.m. Get more info here.

KATS Partners

KATS would like to thank the Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak for partnering with us. Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak has been successful in acquiring funds from the Bureau of Indian Affairs Transportation Fund to support Kodiak Area Transit System and collaborate with the Senior Citizens of Kodiak, Inc. the lead agency for KATS, for assuring all Kodiak residents have adequate transportation to work, shopping and appointments.
