Kodiak Area Transit System (KATS) is the public transportation provider for Kodiak. KATS provides safe, convenient public transportation services within the City of Kodiak. Senior Citizens of Kodiak Inc. administers KATS and contracts with First Student Inc. who operates the system.

Kodiak’s public transit service, the Kodiak Area Transit System (KATS), administered by Senior Citizens of Kodiak, Inc., has been providing transportation services to our community for more than 20 years. Through local, state, and federal support and partnerships, KATS is providing essential transportation service during the COVID-19 pandemic such as medical appointments, shopping and work. To support the Kodiak community, KATS is now fare free through the end of 2020. The $2.00 fare will be waived through December 31, 2020.
KATS Dial-A-Ride service is available Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday service is 10 am till 3 pm. For everyone’s safety and to provide for social distancing KATS is limiting the number of rides on the bus. We recommend you call to schedule your trip at least 2 business days before you want to ride and please remain flexible as trips are limited. Face coverings, personal hygiene and social distancing are required. Please call one of our friendly dispatchers to plan your trip at 486-8308.
